Between Region ITH inform Tumor growth dynamics

Recently I and colleagues reported that genetic divergence between distinct regions of solid tumor samples is indicative of tumor growth patterns. In addition to spatial structure, we found that positive selection, simulated through a simplified peripheral growth model with deme approximation, can dramatically increase between region genetic divergence.

Interestingly, genetic divergence measured by adjusted VAF in Multi Region Sequencing (MRS) of clinical tumors can be projected onto model space, revealing possible differences in ongoing selection during the last expansion of various solid tumors.
